Let me just say 2 things about Jen. She’s super cool, and she knows how to sell my business better than I do. She gets a big gold star for her many referrals (including a wedding)!  Jen wanted some new shots to use on social networking sites and I was happy to oblige. We took some photos at the Azalea Gardens behind the Art Museum, and then for some reason I was inspired by the construction fence. I don’t know, but I think it works. :)

So, as you’ve probably figured out by now, Appleford Estate is my go-to place for my Philly suburb shoots. It’s just so purdy! I am a city gal so I am not familiar with other places in the ‘burbs that are like this (though I am sure there must be others), if you have any suggestions please let me know!  Thanks to my friend Laura for suggesting Appleford in the first place – she and her hubby got married there and we’ll be taking pictures of their little girl there next month, so you have at least one more Appleford shoot to look forward to. :)

I met up there last weekend with 2 1/2 year-old Zachary and his parents, Natalie and Paul. I am always a little nervous before doing a photo shoot with kids under the age of 3 because they can be so unpredictable (and it’s the reason I carry lollipops in my camera bag), but Zachary loved being in front of the camera and before I knew it I had taken hundreds of pictures! He sure did love his baseball cap…it was just slightly big on him and looked so cute!

Turtle-sitting

I am currently turtle-sitting an adorable little reptile named Toscana. She belongs to my friends Michael and Eddie, and when they go on vacation, Toscana vacations at Aunt Suzanne’s house!

To you other photography nerds out there – I took these photos with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm lens that was made for film cameras (what? film?). Thanks to my dad for hanging on to his toys from the days of film!  Oh boy do I appreciate auto-focus and vibration reduction more than ever! Combine those missing features with a teeny animal (Toscana is about 3 inches long) that doesn’t stay still, and you have one frustrated photographer just dying to get a few good shots. I did get some though, isn’t she a cutie patootie??  She kind of looks like she is smiling in the second photo, which is kind of cool, but also kind of freaks me out.

Or at least thank heaven for Alyssa and Julia…what lovely little girls!  I met up with the girls (and mom and dad of course!) at Appleford Estate for a photo session. I know I’ve said it before, but boy do I love Appleford, you haven’t seen the last of this place, I already have several other shoots scheduled there!

Alyssa & Julia were an absolute pleasure to photograph. Aside from being incredibly cute, they both loved being in front of the camera and weren’t shy about striking poses for me! And I just loved watching their sisterly bond…especially when Alyssa comforted Julia after we were chased by a very angry baby goose. (Note to self: gaggles of geese and children are not a good combo)
