I’m hosting Thanksgiving at my house for the second year in a row. Last year was a practice run as it was just 4 of us, but this  year I am hosting not only MY family, but my friend Karine’s family from France! Yep that’s me, embracing the spirit of Thanksgiving!  Wait until they taste those sweet potatoes – they will never go home!

So what are you thankful for? I could go on for days about all the things that I have to be thankful for in my life, I am truly lucky (and I try to remember this when I get in a bad mood about something stupid and meaningless), but here are 10 random things just for fun!

1. Cheese
2. Chocolate
3. Random people who help me when I have car trouble (helps to give that “damsel in distress” look)
4. DVR
5. The Muppets for always making me laugh
6. Basil
7. Philadelphia Film Society for giving me at least one free movie preview a week for the past few weeks
8. Rainstorms in the middle of the night
9. Thanksgiving Eve – seriously the most fun night out second to Halloween IMHO.
10. My incredible, wonderful, supportive family and friends who I don’t tell enough how much they mean to me. Telling you now. :)

Ok that last one wasn’t so random. Every post is better with a photo, so here’s one I snapped in Central Park this week, I just love the fall colors in the background. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Donna: Maternity Photos

Will you please take a look at this hot mama!? Donna is a former Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader and no stranger to being in front of the camera…boy does it show! I swear, if I look even 1/4 this good when I am with child, I will be THRILLED. Can’t wait to meet the little guy – he should be here any day now!

Donna’s loungewear in the first few photos is from a fabulous new boutique in Philly called Inner Flirt - check it out!

And I used off-camera lighting again, I’m getting brave!

Not long after my trip to Italy & France with Heather and Michele, my mom told me that I should submit a story about our experience to the travel section of the Philadelphia Inquirer. So like a good little daughter I followed her advice…and they published it! YAY! See, mom is always right. Check it out here!

And because I can’t post without at least one photo, here’s my favorite of me and the girls, taken in Cinque Terre.

Me and the girls

Monty

Monty rocks. Seriously. He is in a death metal band called Mortal Decay…and I went to one of his shows once. For those of you who know me, can you picture this?? My friends and I were huddled in the corner and watched in alarm as grown men pushed each other around in front of the stage. Evidently this is what goes on at death metal shows. But I digress.

Let me tell you something else about Monty. He smiles and laughs A LOT, he is not as serious as he looks in these photos, but I think they turned out fantastic and still reflect his personality as an artist and just overall rockin’ cool dude!

What you might notice about this that is different than most of my blog posts is that I used studio lights and surprisingly I REALLY enjoyed it! It was nice to have some control over what I was photographing – imagine that. The gang at The Strobist (where there was a recent debate about lighting being a “boys club”) would be proud of me!

I spent some time last weekend with Jessica & Adam in Society Hill to do some engagement photos. The weather was rainy but that didn’t stop us!  Since everything was still a little wet, it just made those fall colors POP! And to think we almost canceled because of the rain – the horror!  We even enlisted the help of a guy blowing leaves to blow some on Jess & Adam…felt like I was in the movie biz directing special effects, it was so cool!

I just realized how many exclamation marks I used in the above paragraph, can you tell I am excited about these photos?!?!?!?!

Jess & Adam – I had so much fun with you guys, can’t wait for the wedding in June!

I am so honored to have been a part of my friends Christina & Kevin’s wedding. The very intimate gathering (30 people) took place at Gayle restaurant. I think the wedding gods were on our side because although it poured all day that day, the rain subsided about 10 minutes before the outdoor ceremony began, and then started back up again just as the cocktail hour was wrapping up. Perfect!

From the dozens of red umbrellas, to the beautiful fall décor, to the photos of Kevin and Christina and their friends and families that graced the walls…Christina didn’t leave out any details and it just added so much personality to the event. They even wrote their own vows and yours truly was crying behind the camera (so professional!).

Christina and Kevin are both business owners (she’s a personal chef, he’s a personal trainer) and they used some fantastic local vendors for the wedding. A little shout out to everyone who made this event super lovely…

Venue: Gayle

Dress:  Darcy Law Couture

Shoes: South Philly Style Shoes

Veil: Christina’s sister Joanna!

Hair: Kurt at Salon Richochet

Florist: Michael at Pure Design

Music: Joe Arnold

Enjoy the photos below, and to check out the slide show (which I have been informed by Christina has “gone international”) click here!
